Job Title:  RN / Registered Nurse, Spring Lake Village

Department: Skilled Nursing
Reports To: Director of Health Services
FLSA Status: Non Exempt

Primary Purpose:
Direct and administer holistic nursing care to residents. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate safe, therapeutic care within California Registered Nurse scope of practice and consistent with Spring Lake Village's standard and regulatory mandates.

Job Performance Standards:

I. CORE PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
Constantly exhibits behavior as set forth in the attached Core Performance Standards.

II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

A. Provide outstanding customer service to residents and guests.

B. Assess resident physical, cognitive, and emotional status at least three times per shift and report changes of condition promptly to the attending physician.

C. Plan and implement or supervise implementation of appropriate nursing interventions.

D. Evaluate and reassess effectiveness of nursing interventions and formulate new diagnosis as needed.

E. Supervise Licensed Vocational Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants during shift.

F. Note physician orders accurately and execute them.

G. Maintain resident health records in accordance with facility standards.

H. Notify resident families or responsible parties of resident changes of condition or needs.

I. Daily monitor resident elimination status, laboratory results, vital signs, and food intake and weekly monitor weights.

J. Communicate diet/tray orders to Food Service promptly upon admission, discharge, transfer or diet changes.

K. Lead emergency response including CPR during disaster, fire, or other safety events.

L. Coordinate communication or resident status to subsequent care teams.

M. Participate in unit based quality assurance studies.

N. Participate in care plan conferences as scheduled

O. Order medications as needed

P. Assure that adequate staffing reports for duty for oncoming shifts.

Q. Evaluate and respond to employee injuries and document as required.

R. Maintain current census report.

S. Work in collegial and mutually supportive manner with House Nursing staff.

T. Other duties as assigned.

III. ABILITIES AND SKILLS:

  1. A warm and friendly person who enjoys interacting with older peoples.
  2. Able to perform geriatric assessments.
  3. Able to perform the attached Physical and Environmental Requirements.
  4. Knowledgeable about regulatory requirements.
  5. Proficient with Windows based computer software

IV. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a valid California Registered Nurse License and current CPR certificate.
  • Prior experience working in skilled nursing facility highly desirable.

V. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must successfully pass a health screening including an approved tuberculosis test.
  • Must successfully pass a Criminal Record Clearance through the California Department of Justice and if reporting to work prior to receipt of clearance certify in writing that they have never had a criminal conviction relevant to retirement housing and health care.
