HIPAA Compliance Statement

December 24, 2002

Episcopal Senior Communities is aggressively working toward compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and its implementing regulations.

As an organization we plan to comply with each of the applicable HIPAA standards by its respective mandated implementation date.

Episcopal Senior Communities will be completing its initial HIPAA impact assessment and will implement an organizational work plan. Working groups will develop policies and procedures to ensure compliance in the following major areas: Transaction and Code Sets, Privacy and Security. We will assess our information systems to determine the changes required for compliance with mandated transaction formats. Additionally, business operations and operating procedures will be reviewed to ensure that they meet HIPAA's requirements. Episcopal Senior Communities, also, is working with its payors to ensure timely compliance with the Transaction and Code Set regulation.

Episcopal Senior Communities provides this information to demonstrate its commitment to protecting its residents' privacy and to the legal requirement of HIPAA.
